References to the surname Feenstra in the record books occur post 1811 (Napoleon's Decree) after adoption of the surname Feenstra by Fokke's descendants. Fokke died in 1782. Fokke signed his name Fokke Laases.

- Fokke Laases was a schipper and koopman (ship's captain and buyer). Under contract as the captain of the kofschip (a two masted inland water and coastal wooden sailing vessel) known as the de Jong Basseleur, schipper Fokke Laases sailed to many ports from both Rotterdam and Amsterdam to Bilbao in North Spain, Saint Petersburg in Russia, Brest to Bordeaux in France, Calais in France, Libourne in South Western France and Pillau in Prussia to name a few.
In 1753 Bolsward town documents record Antie as the housewife of Fokke Laases living in the Hoogstraat in Bolsward. In 1756 it is recorded that Fokke is now living on the Koornmarkt (Appelmarkt) and later Marktplein in Bolsward and was captain of the kofschip de Jong Basseleur.
